Description
This course is one of several about the dominant manner of organizing life on the planet: capitalism. It explores the way that capitalist relations often entail political arrangements larger than the unit we are most familiar with, the nation-state. The goal of the course is to better understand the relationship between capitalism and its various systems of rule, including not only colonialism and imperialism, but also new global configurations that are now coming into view. Prerequisites: upper-division standing.
