Description
This class explores the role of language in the creation of communities, belonging, and identity. Readings introduce students to classic and contemporary anthropological approaches, while class discussions delve into current cases involving code-switching, social media, mass media, hate groups, nationalism, and more. Prerequisites: upper-division standing.
