An introduction to physical principles that govern biological matter and processes, with engineering examples. Thermodynamic principles, structural basis of life, molecular reactions and kinetics, and models to illustrate biological phenomena. Prerequisites: CHEM 6B, MATH 20A, 20B, 20D, PHYS 2A, 2B, 2C; majors only or consent of department. (W)
