Description
A survey of skill building for successful advanced study of organic chemistry topics including reading and searching the primary chemical literature, generating chemical schemes and figures, and chemical communication. Includes an introduction to kinetics and thermodynamics, acidity and basicity, oxidation reactions, molecular orbital theory, pericyclic reactions, and organometallic catalysis. Topics will vary year to year. This is the first quarter of the advanced organic chemistry sequence. May be coscheduled with CHEM 152. Prerequisites: graduate standing.
