Description
Introduction to the physical properties of organic molecules and strategies to investigate the microscopic elements of catalytic reactions. Topics covered include catalytic rate laws determinations, isotope effects, linear free energy relationships, non-covalent interactions, and pH/pKa. This is the third quarter of the advanced organic chemistry sequence. May be coscheduled with CHEM 156. Prerequisites: graduate standing. CHEM 252 and CHEM 254 are strongly recommended.
