Description
Advertising as a commercial and social force. The development of advertising, branding, and consumer culture in the United States; the history and political economy of advertising in mass and digital media; semiotics and representation in advertisements; influencers, authenticity, and the monetization of self and community; subversion and rebellion within systems of advertisement and promotion. Prerequisites: COMM 10, COMM 20, COMM 30, COMM 30GS, or COMM 40.
