Description
This course explores the construction of gender by biomedicine, and the influence of conceptions of gender on the development of biomedicine. From challenges to binary conceptions of sex to the intersection of race and pharmaceutical development around the world, the course will examine the ways in which embodied experiences of gender, sexuality, and race have interacted with social processes of biomedicalization and pharmaceuticalization. Prerequisites: COMM 10.
