COMM 195. Communication Instructional Assistant (4 units)

Description
Under the supervision of an instructor, a student undergraduate instructional apprentice (UGIA) will assist in the instruction of a communication course. The COMM UGIA will attend the lectures of the course and hold weekly meetings with students of the course and with the course instructor. Responsibilities may include class presentations, designing and leading weekly discussions, assisting with homework and exam grading, and monitoring and responding to online discussion posts. Prerequisites: limited to junior or senior students with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Successful completion of the course for which you would like to be a UGIA with at least an A–, preferably with the same instructor. Student must submit an application for the undergraduate instructional apprentice position through ASES, and receive the approval of the department, instructor, department chair, and Academic Senate.
