Description

This course examines the historical experiences of Chicanas, Puertorriqueñas, and Centroamericanas in the U.S. in the twentieth century. It explores the social, economic, and political conditions of everyday Chicanas and Latinas and the agency they exerted navigating and negotiating these realities. Topics include immigration, migration, community formation, gender and sexuality, labor organizing, grassroots activism, social movements, feminism, and criminalization and incarceration.
