This course explores linked histories of black and indigenous people. Key topics include US settler colonialism; American Indian slaveholding; African American military personnel and native resistance; cultural/linguistic exchange; kinship and mixed black Indian communities; forms of resistance; black and red power movements; tribal citizenship; and the impact of black/native people official policies. +
