PH 431. Public Health Informatics (4 units)

Description
The course introduces students to informatics concepts, techniques, and systems used in public health practice. The course covers systems and data standards used in vital statistics, immunization tracking, disease surveillance, disease outbreak management, electronic laboratory reporting, and disease registries. The course provides students experience with real world clinical data sets, relational and NoSQL database systems, and geographic information systems for public health data analysis. Prerequisites: must be enrolled in MPH program (PB75 and PB90) or program approval. Renumbered from FMPH 431. Students may not receive credit for both FMPH 431 and PH 431.
