Link to catalog page: https://catalog.ucsd.edu/courses/SIO.html#sioc217d
Description
Atmospheric and ocean chemistry that impacts and is impacted by climate change, including the processes related to aerosol microphysics and the controls on atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Atmospheric applications will focus on aerosol growth and sinks, aerosol-cloud interactions, atmospheric lifetimes of long-lived gases, ocean and land carbon cycling, and isotopes relevant for climate diagnosis. The course will include problem solving with computational tools. Recommended preparation: MATLAB boot camp, SIOC 214A, or adequate knowledge of fluid dynamics highly recommended. Prerequisites: graduate standing and SIOC 217A or consent of instructor.
