SIO 170GS. Introduction to Volcanology (4 units)

Description
This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of the science of volcanology. Topics explored will include the processes and products of various types of volcanism, magma genesis, eruptive mechanisms, in addition to volcanic monitoring, hazards, and mitigation. Students may not receive credit for both SIO 170 and SIO 170GS. Program or materials fees may apply. Prerequisites: Students must apply and be accepted to the Global Seminars Program.
