Description
“Gentrification” refers to the migration of relatively affluent people into less affluent and working-class neighborhoods. We will discuss the differences between gentrification, reinvestment, and urban renewal; the causes of gentrification; and its effects on the businesses and residents. We will also examine the role of public policy in encouraging gentrification or mitigating its most harmful consequences. Prerequisites: upper-division standing or consent of instructor.
